Encounters with Jesus: Jesus and Peter- Feed My Sheep
Jesus is the Good Shepherd (John 10.14, 17). God come among us to gather, save, lead, feed his sheep, his people. Above all, he gathered and saved through his lifting up on the cross. Now he stands as Risen Lord, asking his disciples to follow his example. Feed my sheep, until he returns.

1. In John 12.1-3 we find the most important image of devotion to Jesus in this Gospel. Why is it hard for us today to figure out how to offer extravagant love to our Lord, like Mary?
2. Why is friendship an experience in our lives that can be both a blessing but also lead to suffering?
3. How had Peter performed as a friend to Jesus, at the time of Jesus’ passion and death? (See John 18.15-27).
4. What is so significant about Jesus sharing a meal with Peter and his disciples on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, in John 21.9-15? What is Jesus offering Peter in this meal?
5. What is Jesus offering Peter, by asking him three times ‘Do you love me’? (John 21.15-17)?
6. How does Jesus’ command ‘Feed my sheep’ (John 20v17) challenge our natural instinct to only care for those we feel close to? (See also John 10.16).
