The Lord’s  Sovereignty Over  Our Mission

Have you ever wondered if the Lord is guiding you to witness in word or deed to a friend? Perhaps your heart has been ignited by a spark from the fire of Jesus’ compassion. Perhaps you see your friend as that lost sheep, or lost coin, as part of the world that the Father so loves that he gave his Son. At the same time you don’t want to make a mistake, you don’t want to share your faith in such a way that alienates your friend.

Or, perhaps you are considering a bigger question: whether to move into a new home, place of study or work? Have you heard Jesus guide you into this mission field? This Sunday we consider Paul’s experience of guidance as he discovered an open door for mission to a marvellous new mission field, namely the first mission to Europe in Acts 16.624. The Lord stretched out his hand through the Spirit and a vision to make his guidance clear to Paul. And we rest in the truth that the Lord of mission is still able to make his guidance clear today, in our personal mission.

As we try, he will guide.
