Sunday, July 28

When you are at the end of all your resources, with no strength or power to make a change, it is time to put yourself into the hands of the One who has the power and kindness to break through. This Sunday we continue to explore one of the Old Testament’s most significant episodes: the book of Ruth. If Naomi’s emptiness was the experience the Scripture brought before us in chapter 1, Ruth’s courageous faith is the experience brought to our attention in chapter 2. A faith that risks her own personal safety, daring to believe in the Lord’s favour to her. And a faith that will be met by the care of a loving God, who knows her heart, and undertakes to defend and provide even for this outsider to the inheritance of Israel.
