This Sunday we’re looking at the 3rd clause of our series on the Apostles creed: maker of Heaven and earth.
This was the basis of God’s relationship with his people Israel: God is the creator of the whole earth.
This was critical for Israel to understand: that there is one God and it’s Yahweh. How else could they worship God properly? How could they forsake other gods unless they believed that Yahweh was the one true God, whose authority reached from East to west?
God created heaven and earth which means he is the only one worth praying to. Every part of creation is under his eye and under his care.
So, because God is the loving, attentive creator of the world, there are 4 things we can say with certainty:
creation is Real (vs eastern religions, The Matrix)
creation is Designed (vs Atheism)
creation is Good (vs Gnosticism, legalism)
creation is Finite (vs paganism, materialism).
Let’s praise our creator as we live in his world, under his care, enjoying his blessings.
