Trust in God, not in our weak hearts

This Sunday we will be blessed by a talk from Bishop Paul at our 9.15am & 11am gatherings while 8am meets for a Prayer service.  In Deuteronomy chapter 29, God’s people look back at his faithfulness to them- in their redemption from slavery, the receiving of the law, and other mighty acts of deliverance and protection. They are encouraged to identify the Lord’s faithful love in this story. And then to look forward, trusting not in their own weak and foolish hearts, but in the continuing love of God. The people of God are encouraged to believe that God will continue to be faithful to his promises. And we have even better assurance than they, seeing God’s faithfulness in the cross despite our weakness. So let us renew our faith in God‘s love in these days, turning away from controlling fear, anxiety, despair, or self-reliance.
