Pastoral Assistant, Liz Wilson

Liz Wilson

Liz leads our café ministry, Coffee on Kareela. This means both pulling together a team of volunteers and building friendships in the local community.

Liz has a passion to see people connected with the church community in positive ways, and to reach those with no church background.

She and hubby Martyn have been part of St Luke’s, well, let’s say for a long time, and are still in there doing what they love to do for God.

New ideas are never far away!

Youth Minister, Hayden McLachlan

Hayden McLachlan

Hi I’m, Hayden!
A bit about me:
Well I hope it goes without saying that I’m a Christian. I grew up in the church and was involved in youth programs throughout my early years and God really started working on my heart during high school where I experienced his love and presence more deeply.

I’m a support worker by trade and formerly worked as a youth mentor. I’m a 3rd year uni student, studying to be a counsellor. My prayer is to see younger generations experience God’s  love and fullness of life in Jesus, no matter their situation, and I want to be a part of that. I love most things sport, especially AFL. Unfortunately, I’m a long time St Kilda supporter so I’m aware of suffering, hope, and trials. My hobbies are piano, bush hiking or jogging, and gym.

I’ll see you around!

History of St Luke’s

St Luke’s was commenced in the early 1960’s in response to the rapid eastward expansion of the Frankston area. The Karingal housing estate had begun and there were many families looking for a local Sunday School. So a number of lay people from St Paul’s in High St Frankston commenced a new ministry here, a hall was built, and later the vicarage, with the church building dedicated in 1968. The design of the church is based around an upturned hull, linking our location near the bay, plus Christ’s call to be ‘fishers of people’.

During that time St Lukes has maintained an active ministry to all age groups, a variety of worship from traditional Anglican through charismatic and praise and worship, and a pastoral care ministry involving hospital visitation, Christian Education in schools, luncheons for the aged and infirm, small group and Alpha ministries, plus hosts of other programs and events.

In 1992 extensions were made at St Luke’s incorporating a new foyer area and offices to facilitate relationship building and hospitality- high priorities in our corporate life.

From 1999-2017 St Luke’s enjoyed the long and fruitful ministry of Rev. Phil Hurwood. Under his care the church gradually grew in numbers, and continued to reach out into the city of Frankston through various ministries.

In August 2017, a new  Lead Minister was commissioned at St Lukes, Rev. Glen Macrae. Glen facilitated a time of Vision Renewal. This was an opportunity to hear God’s voice and discern just how God would have us bring the good news of the Gospel to the people of Frankston, into the future. We are now working away, under God, at our Vision to ‘See the City of Frankston Transformed by the Hope of the Risen Lord.’
