Casting Crowns
It is amazing to ponder that as the heir to Saul’s throne, Jonathan was a natural enemy to David. However, their hearts knit together in brotherly love, Jonathan honours David and recognises God’s call on his life. This is played out in 1 Samuel 20 as Jonathan refuses to hold onto his own crown, and instead lays it down for David. The good news is that we have a king even more worthy than David, before which we lay down our crowns. We lay down our pursuits of power and control, putting the same in His hands.
