The first healing miracle in Acts comes in chapter 3, where the risen and ascended Lord Jesus heals a crippled man, through his Apostles. The man was a beggar, and when Peter and John stopped to speak with him, he thought he was going to get some cash- something to get him through the day. But he got more than that- he got what he needed- a restored body and was brought into the fellowship of believers.
On that day, one man was restored to health, but one day Jesus will return to complete what he began in his earthly ministry: he will completely restore this world. Miracles seem rare and spectacular now. But on that day, miracles will be as common as dirt.
In the meantime, Jesus will glorify himself as ‘the author of life’ (3:15), through the preaching and the deeds of his disciples.
