‘If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me’ Jesus said to his disciples in Mark 8.34. So begins a new direction in Mark’s Gospel, a new focus on the theme of discipleship. But what does it mean to die to self and so find the life that truly is life? This Sunday Jesus shows us two ways to die to self, and find life in God’s kingdom (Mark 9.38-50): the disciple is called to die to jealousy and instead support the wider church; the disciple is called to die to the pursuit of freedom, and instead come under the reign of Christ now and into eternity. All welcome to join us as we explore the true meaning of life, in this way.
Our 11am service will also include a multi-age talk for the kids, and activity sheets.
Look forward to having you with us.
